Denise’s Testimony


I know what it is to live without fear.

Do you ever notice the children in church with their parents, especially when they’re charging around, being a bit noisy, as if they were at home? They are.

I was a child once! I was gorgeous! Tall, skinny, red hair and freckles over my nose. I loved animals and books. I have a sister. I had parents too, very violent parents. My sister and I saw and experienced dreadful abuse while growing up. We knew what it was to live in fear.

A blog is a short thing, it’s not a book, so I’ll keep this short! In my late teens God found me, in the jungle in Guyana.  I suspect he’d been watching over me all the time  (Read Psalm 139 verse 13 onwards).

I got a new life, a fresh start! Couldn’t believe it, and years later I am still amazed and thankful. I feel that I was remade, a new creation, it’s ongoing.

I was reading some statistics earlier about children from abusive backgrounds and those brought up in care, and it didn’t make for cheery reading, except to me! I laughed because my God sets captives free, He heals broken hearts, He puts people in families, new ones if necessary.

I got a new life, a fresh start! Couldn’t believe it, and years later I am still amazed and thankful. I feel that I was remade, a new creation, it’s ongoing.

I’m not a child anymore, I’m still gorgeous, still tall and still got freckles. The red hair and skinniness is somewhat debatable. I love books.
